Will one C+ affect my college results?
Hello, I'm currently a rising junior at one of the most competitive high schools in California. I transferred here mid-year during sophomore year due to their music program, however I received a C+ in a notoriously difficult honors math course during second semester. I also was not allowed to take any AP classes during sophomore year due to my transfer. I took an AP during freshman year, and am planning to take 4 APs + 1 IB class during Junior year. My overall UW GPA is still a 3.89, and I am still top 20% of my class based on UW gpa. Will this affect my college results?

Think of it this way: they鈥檙e going to notice your 3.89 UW GPA, top 20% rank, and challenging schedule more than that one slip in a tough honors math class. A C+ is a bump, not a derailment. Keep pushing forward with your AP/IB plan, and your overall record will speak louder than that single grade.

Generally, a single C+ won't break your application. As long as you explain/acknowledge it somehow in the app (maybe as a learning opportunity, motivator, etc.) you'll likely be fine, esp since you just transferred.
