Do schools like Yale really care about freshmen taking algebra 1? Should I move up to geo?

Im the same freshman hi hi!!!

I take Algebra 1, I wanna go to Yale as some people know here...

Yes, I am in no honors or APs, I need to settle in first and build up that 3.9-4.0 GPA!!

however I heard that schools like Yale do not like freshmen taking Algebra One, If I get a good grade on a test I just took, my teacher said he'll consider it and talk with the department chair. however, some of my friends are in TRIG!!!!!! what!!! I feel so behind I genuinely don't know what to do!!
