How to seem passionate Answered
Hello! I鈥檓 applying this year and am looking for ways to show that I am in fact passionate about what I want to major in. I feel as though, since I鈥檓 not consistent with what I do, I can鈥檛 really show a passion, especially since it is my senior year and I think it鈥檚 a little late to start picking something up now.
So far, I have been involved with HOSA and Make a Wish Club since freshmen year and I鈥檝e been a peer tutor since junior year. I just started working as a tutor, teaching kids how to do math. I also do tennis, color guard, and play the violin. I plan on going into Biomedical Engineering, which I know is a very competitive field, with a minor in Mandarin, a language I鈥檝e been taking since freshmen year.
I want to seem like a good applicant, especially since I鈥檒l be applying to schools like Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, and Upenn, but I鈥檓 not sure if all the inconsistency and the lack of passion for a long period of time will make me a good applicant. Is it too late for me?

I think volunteering at a hospital or doing independent research on biomedical engineering could work. Or making a social media blog about informing high schoolers about biomedical engineering advances. Good luck, I have a friend who also plans on majoring in biomedical engineering and she ran some medical outreach visits to underprivileged areas this summer. Maybe you can start something similar when school starts or even now.
