Thinking about taking college courses in the summer

I鈥檓 a bit worried about my course rigor. I took an AP class sophomore year, and I鈥檓 in 2 APs, an IB HL and an IB SL for my junior year. This means I have four advanced classes where six is the max. I will probably take the same or slightly harder course load senior year. I also took a college course this summer and earned an A, but I don鈥檛 know if colleges would care about that because it鈥檚 a summer travel program as opposed to a conventional course.

The hardest schools I鈥檓 applying to are U of Michigan, Hillsdale college (small private college with similar acceptance to U of M) and possibly Norte Dame. It seems like a lot of people at my school have a heavier course load. Would taking a college class over the summer next summer help my chances?

What kind of school are you in? is it populated? if so try and focus on ecs be different than your peers but also challenge yourself to explore your interests outside of school it seems like now ecs and taking at least 4-6 ap or ib classes matters for top schools.

Consider looking into community college. I am homeschooled and can't easily take AP classes so I will be doing a lot of community college. Take general education classes that would transfer in any major in case the schools you're looking at will accept those transfer credits. This will save time and money, as well as proving your ability to handle college level coursework. If the schools are more competitive, look for universities that have college credit programs in the summer. Also, make sure to include extracurricular activities in your high school plans. These activities are important in the application. Leadership is also important.
