DO NOT WRITE ABOUT COVID OR SPORTS INJURIES! Too many people write something basic about how COVID-19 affected their mental health and how they got injured before the big game. These topics being so common make it so your application doesn't stand out. Write about an uncommon extracurricular, a struggle you've overcome, or even a class you took that changed what you wanted to major in/career.

I agree with you. Covid and some health-related issues have been one of the most popular and used topics for essays, and I think that now there is no point in writing about them. Such paper will not be different from hunters others, and it's for sure better to choose something else.
