Should I take AP Language and Composition or Chinese I?
Answered

Through the state, I have the opportunity to take two classes online; I'm already going to take AP Statistics, but I can't decide whether my second class should be AP Lang or Chinese I. I might be able to take the course I don't take next year, but it's not guaranteed that it will be offered. In case it matters, I'm a sophomore, take rigorous classes in school, and do very well in school, I'm not worried about being overloaded with work.

Here are the pros and cons of each class:

AP Lang:

-Not offered at my school

-I'll get high school credits for it (weighted)

-I enjoy English and do well in it

-It's an AP class

Chinese I:

-Not offered in my school

-I won't get credit for it

-I really want to learn Chinese and plan to keep up with it

-I plan to apply to NSLIY (a competitive, language-focused study abroad scholarship) this summer, so this would prove my interest in the language

-If I keep up with it, it may look good to colleges to be trilingual (English, Spanish, and Chinese)

Which do you think I should take?

I think you should take AP Lang because it is one of the more useful AP classes and colleges care more about it compared to an AP foreign language class

Hi!

I took AP Lang last year as a high school Junior. I really enjoyed it and did well in the class. If you do well in English I would say AP Lang would be a great fit for you! Good luck!馃榿
