Should I attach a newspaper clipping to my application?
Answered

This newspaper clipping gives insight about me that would not be found anywhere else on my application, but there is one part of it that I'm unsure about. It talks about my top choice for colleges and states the universities that I was interest in at that time which were MIT and Cornell. This clipping is from my sophomore year, so obviously my top choices for schools has grown, but that clipping only shows two of my top choices. If I apply to other ivies, will this hurt my chances? I don't want them to think that I'm not interested in attending their school, or that I'll choose another school over them.

I think a newspaper clipping might be useful for your application if it shows your accomplishments or personal qualities. I think you can also add an explanation to it. For example, you might say that the clipping reflects your passion for teaching and research but doesn't limit your choice of colleges. Moreover, everyone understands that your area of 鈥嬧媖nowledge has grown over time, and your area of interest has grown accordingly.
