How to strengthen application w/ low gpa?
Hello! I鈥檓 a high school Junior who is graduating a year early to study abroad in Japan. Right now I鈥檓 in a situation where my only options to afford college are in-state community college or financial aid, which seems to be the best at very selective schools. My gpa right now is a 2.8, but with my trajectory I can probably bring it up to a 3.0 by graduation. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can strengthen an application to a selective school with such a low gpa? I have a fairly good reason (working to pay bills + homelessness), but I worry that a good explanation won鈥檛 make up for a 3.0. I do have a 34 ACT and really good extracurriculars, including an internship, studying abroad, work, and certification relating to the degree I want to pursue, but I just feel like it needs a bit more. Any suggestions?

If u have a low GPA, u can compensate with a higher act or sat score or add some extracurriculars/talents to impress college recruiters. U can also take on a heavier courseload so you can show college recruiters u can do college work. This is because college work can be comparable to AP work in high school. If I were u, I would ask a professional or ur parents for advice.
