Hello!
I want to know if people had any idea as if I can get into a IVY, I鈥檓 in 11th and have a 3.96 unweighted gpa, my school doesn鈥檛 offer APS but I took College prep and honors which are the highest, I鈥檓 also into a French school where I have an overall of 17,66/20 which is consider excellent. I鈥檓 planning on taking 3/4 APS outside of school next year but I don鈥檛 know if it鈥檒l help. I also got my first SAT results (1490). I work outside of school + volunteer in a political group. My dream school would be Berkeley (I know it鈥檚 not an IVY) but I鈥檓 scared I鈥檓 not doing enough.
Thanks
Personally, I do think you need to be doing more.
Generally I recommend:
Focus on getting the highest test score possible, and doing activities in the area your passionate in.
In order to get into an Ivy, they are looking for more than grades, course rigor, test scores, and interesting ECs. If you are okay going to Berkeley, you are in good shape but keep in mind your SAT is low if you are applying for a STEM degree and that financial aid is poor if you are applying out of state.
For Ivys, it is paramount that you have an angular narrative with some key Spike activities. Ivy Colleges are NOT looking for well-rounded applicants, they are looking for a well-rounded incoming class of cohorts. Therefore your application must be more compelling than what is written on paper as a C.V. (resume).
There are plenty of posts on here that will help you understand what a Spike or Angular narrative means. I recommend that you view some videos produced by 黑料不打烊 to help you understand that you need things that make you stand out compared to your peers.
