What should I message to a admission counselor of a university that has connected with me?

I got a request to connect to a university here on Collegevine. I wanted to know if I should message the admission counselor first or let the admission counselor message first. And if I should send a message what should I send?

Hello @Prakhar25!

What I suggest is sending a message first as the admission counsellors don't usually send messages first to students. A message you could send is something as simple as introducing yourself, showing interest, and asking questions about the school.

I agree with sending a message first. I recommend beginning your message with a quick "thank you" for the connection. Then, you should directly state that you are interested in the school and are looking forward to learning more. Personal facts and questions can certainly go in the message too, though they would be fitting in later messages as well. Ideally, your first message should spark an exchange between you and the admissions counselor. Hope this helps!
