Dual Credit and Admissions

Hello, so I started applying for courses for junior year and my core classes are going to mostly be consisted of dual credit. If say I'm applying to Harvard or an Ivy League will there be less of a chance of acceptance due to them not accepting dual credit?

Hi @forever_silent!

Even if dual credit doesn't transfer to the Ivies, they still consider dual credit classes as rigorous coursework. Taking dual credit won't be disadvantageous in terms of admissions decisions.

This is a great answer! One technical detail to add here is that colleges have a slight preference for AP and IB classes, but they care most of all that you are taking the most rigorous classes available to you. If dual enrollment is the highest level you can take, it will look just as good as a student at a school with lots of AP options taking many AP classes. If you have a choice, choose AP or IB - you will get more college credit too. Hope this helps!

Thank you! If our school doesn't offer many APs should I still try to take them?

@forever_silent I recommend taking as many as you can, even if you can only take one. Then you can take dual enrollment classes for your remaining class slots.
