Applying to University of Illinois at Urbana Champagne

HI guys,

I have decided that I will transfer again but after I graduate with my Associates at Penn State. I know that transferring from 3 or 4 colleges probably doesn't look good but quite honestly I am so done with Penn State. What are your thoughts?

Hi @lemonspice!

Would you mind telling why you have been transferring so much? Is it because the colleges dont feel welcoming enough? Have you had bad experiences with professors? What issue(s) did you face with Penn State?

Sure. people at my university aren't welcoming and people started to tease me in the club yesterday... and Ive had bad experiences in the past at PSU. I feel like UIUC would at least be more welcoming and the clubs wouldn't tease me. Yes. I may be vulnerable but thats because I was very insecure in my teenage years and its becoming who I am. I would like to have a different atmosphere made up of friendlier people and friendlier professors. The profs make you feel dumb for not understanding...

I think you need to research colleges in detail before choosing to attend. I'm not against transferring, but it isn't worth spending time at a place only to realize that it's not a good fit for you. If in-campus visits are not possible, try virtual tours (by the college) and campusreel (tours by actual students at a college). Are all the profs condescending or just some? Look up profs at Rate My Professor before registering for classes. I don't guarantee 100% trustworthiness, but it does help!

Hi, most of the professors at the school are condescending but I will look my professors up on RateMyProfessor.com before registering...

If you believe transferring is best for you and your education you should move to Illinois. But if you haven't sorted out all the details of transferring I highly recommend it before you do, when I transferred I wasn't prepared and everything was a mess.
