Am I doing enough to get into a good college?
Answered

Due to Covid, everything kinda just slowed down and now that I am a junior, I feel like I haven鈥檛 done enough.

I鈥檓 just going to tell you everything so please just let me know your opinions.

I do quite a bit of volunteering, I have a job, I do music and 3 clubs at school. I have also been a camp counselor for 6th graders the last two years. We had to submit an application and go through a tedious process, leading me to miss some school. I also take all honors/AP classes. I am worried because I have gotten one B on my transcript so I am not a straight A student. I was put in normal physics and chem my freshmen and sophomore year, despite the fact I should have been in honors. I am in the working on a project to help younger children and I still feel behind. I haven鈥檛 gotten any awards and I quit sports in middle school.

I don鈥檛 know if this counts but I did this course at Georgetown over the summer.

I live in a pretty nice area and all the kids here are so smart. They all seem to be doing so much, winning awards and going to Yale for summer programs. Although I feel like I don鈥檛 have enough going on, if I add more; I might just break.

I鈥檓 just really worried.

So my question is - am I doing enough? If not, what else could I do?

Btw any colleges that you think might suit me, please list them below.

Thank you so much!!

Hi @someonerandom!

First of all, you don't need to be a straight-A student to get into a good/top college. Don't pressurize yourself for not being an overachiever, because again, plenty of them get rejected every year from top colleges.

Your extracurriculars seem competitive, considering that you're managing all that while studying and working a job. As for awards, it is not possible for everyone to get them. They comprise only a minor part of your application. Colleges don't expect everyone to have sports achievements. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and you need to identify yours.

You've already done a course at Georgetown and you're taking AP/honors, which shows your ability to deal with college-level coursework. If you haven't already, take the SAT/ACT because some colleges might require test scores.

For a list of colleges that suit you, fill out your 黑料不打烊 profile and then use the chancing simulator. Make a balanced list of colleges, which according to 黑料不打烊, is at least 2 safeties, 4 targets, and 2 reaches.

There's nothing to worry about; you'll be completely fine! Good luck!

Hope this helps!
