Should I apply for Syracuse's Early Decision?
Answered

Hi,

I'm applying to Syracuse University for Fall 2023 and it has the best program in my area of study. The thing is I'm an international student and would need around 65K$ in scholarships per year. I've done research for two years and couldn't find much about their financial aid, their website isn't really detailed about it for international students, and they don't release Common Data Set (CDS), so as the deadline approaches (tomorrow, Nov 15) I'm still undecided about applying ED or not even applying at all, because if I can't get the financial aid from Early Decision I certainly won't in regular admissions.

My chancing from 黑料不打烊 is 86% with Early Decision, 80% with regular admissions

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Caio_M

Since there is only a 6% difference in getting accepted RD to Syracuse U at 80% vs 86%, I strongly advise you not to apply Early because you'd be wasting your EA or EDII opportunity with better schools say in the 30-50% range.

Second, Syracuse University is not known to give out very big Financial Aid packages to International students so I would research other schools that might be more favorable since you need about 80% of your costs covered by aid.

If you apply ED, they will probably give you worse aid than if you EA, but the deadline is tomorrow... so you might have to RD.
