I doubt anything would happen, chances are that they won't check that you did the sport unless you had major awards in it. I think you should be fine.

I agree with the previous comment, changing plans is a common thing in our lives, I don鈥檛 see anything wrong with your situation.

I went through the exact same thing. I quit my varsity sport senior year, but that was after I submitted my college applications. I did not contact them or attempt to change my application, and it ended up working out just fine.

Also there鈥檚 really no way that they鈥檙e going to look into it.

During the pandemic, a lot of HS seniors were in this situation and their Varsity sport was canceled involuntarily. In that past situation, I think colleges were okay with seeing a gap in the ECs like sports especially if the applicant used the "Add'l information" section and explained that their school canceled Water Polo, or Track or Lacrosse due to the pandemic.

Now that the pandemic has dwindled down to the point where masking is optional and all Varsity sports are played across the country, I do not think you automatically have this built-in escape hatch you can opt into. I highly recommend that you reach out to the colleges you applied to to inform them that you are not training or competing in Winter Track. You don't have the opportunity it seems to go back into your college applications and make that modification/correction, so that is why you should inform them via email.

Personally, I wouldn't say anything. Unless you made it a big deal that you were. going to do winter track, I would not proceed to contact admissions. You weren't being dishonest, and since the plans have changed, so I think you're in the clear.
