Good highschool extracurriculars for students interested in classics?Answered
What would be some good extracurriculars for a tenth grader who is condsidering majoring in classics in college? Are there any besides reading classics or learning latin and greek? Are there any that would offer leadership opportunities?

Hi!
A friend of mine applied for Classics and she did a variety of things. Aside from teaching herself Greek and Latin she started a Greek Mythology club for the younger students at school and would hold presentations about Greek Mythology in the senior school. The club for the younger students was held during lunch time and was extremely positively received. She wrote a play based around Greek Mythology for them to perform and it was an excellent thing for her to do. You could also look at conservation or archiving.
The other answers have good ideas but if you're truly interested in the classics you should look into the Junior Classical League. You should see if you can join or start a chapter at your school. If not you can become a member-at-large in your state and still be able to attend competitions and conventions.
