Although the percentage of applicants accepted early decision is higher, that can be misleading because the most qualified and prepared applicants are applying then. That said, I don't think it will help you too much unless you have a hook like being a legacy, recruited athlete, or an underrepresented minority.
No, they won't. The reason for this is why schools show up as far reaches or long reaches鈥攖hat tier means that you haven't cleared the academic cutoffs for that school. (I.e., your GPA or test scores or both are below those that that school accepts for students from your background). Early Decision won't counteract that鈥攏othing will, unless you can bring yourself above those cutoffs.
