High School Math Classes - What's the usual progression?

I'm planning my schedule for the next couple of years and was wondering what math classes are normally taken from freshman to senior year in high school.

Hello there! I'm delighted to help you plan your high school math journey. Typically, the progression begins with Algebra I, followed by Geometry. After that, most students take Algebra II, and then they can move on to Pre-Calculus or Trigonometry. Calculus is usually the culminating course for students who reach that level by their senior year. However, some schools might offer Statistics as an option instead of or in addition to Calculus. If your school offers AP or honors classes, you might consider those for an extra challenge 鈥 they can be really beneficial if you're aiming for a college with competitive admissions. Keep in mind that it's important to balance your schedule with your overall workload and other commitments. If you're thinking about STEM fields in college, getting through to Calculus can give you a great foundation. Good luck with your scheduling!
