Trying to plan my classes for next year and I'm wondering how many years of a foreign language colleges really look for? I've got two years of Spanish down but not sure if I should take a third.
Hello! It鈥檚 great that you鈥檙e planning ahead for your course schedule. Most colleges recommend, if not require, at least two years of foreign language study. However, many competitive colleges prefer to see three or more years of the same language as it shows sustained interest and a commitment to mastering the language. Since you have already completed two years of Spanish, taking a third year could strengthen your transcripts and show colleges that you're willing to challenge yourself academically. Plus, continuing with Spanish may also improve your fluency, which is a valuable skill. If it fits into your schedule and you鈥檙e up for the challenge, taking that third year could be beneficial. Best of luck with your planning!
