Can anyone tell me where I should be adding my certifications in the Common App? I've earned a few that are related to my intended major, and I definitely want colleges to see them!
Hey there! That's a great question, and it's super that you want to showcase your certifications as they reflect your interests and achievements. On the Common App, you've got a couple of options for listing certifications. Firstly, you can include them in the 'Honors' section if these certifications have been awarded as a form of recognition. Now, this is typically for academic and merit-based accolades, but if your certification is prestigious or particularly selective, it might fit well here.
Alternatively, the 'Activities' section is another place you can list your certifications, especially if you had to engage in structured programming or an extensive process to earn them. Treat each cert as an activity: describe the process you went through to earn it, and highlight any projects or outcomes associated with the certification. Remember to keep your description concise and impactful, focusing on why this certification matters for your intended college pathway. Hope this helps and best of luck with your applications!
