Hello, I'm a bit concerned about my grades from sophomore year of high school. Did not have the best year, but I improved a lot during my junior year. Will colleges weigh my sophomore year performance heavily during the admissions process, or are they more focused on junior and senior year achievements? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hello there! It's wonderful to hear that you've shown improvement over your junior year鈥攖hat's something to be proud of! When it comes to college admissions, most colleges will consider your entire high school academic record, including your sophomore year.
That being said, schools are particularly interested in seeing an upward trend in your grades. This shows resilience and the ability to overcome challenges, which are traits that colleges admire in potential students. Keep focusing on your current and future achievements, and also ensure that your overall application鈥攊ncluding your essays and letters of recommendation鈥攔eflects the growth and potential you have demonstrated after a rocky sophomore year.
Colleges do understand that students are not defined by a single year of their high school career. Best of luck with your college applications!
