Hi everyone, I've been teaching myself Korean for the past couple of years and have made some progress. Can I count learning a language as an extracurricular activity for my college applications? Thanks for any advice!
Hey there! Absolutely, learning a new language on your own can be considered an extracurricular activity. It demonstrates initiative, passion for learning, and a willingness to put in extra effort outside of school. In fact, it can be a unique addition to your college applications that sets you apart from other candidates.
When including it on your application, be sure to mention any resources you've used, any milestones you've reached (like a certain level of fluency or completing a language course), and if you've used your language skills for any projects or real-life scenarios. This will help colleges understand your level of commitment and achievement.
