Hi everyone! I'm from NY and I'm wondering if colleges typically care about our Regents exam scores during the admissions process. Should I be worried if my scores aren't the best?

Hello! As a New York student, it's normal to be concerned about Regents exam scores. However, when it comes to college admissions, particularly for schools outside of New York State, these scores generally don't carry much weight in the decision-making process. Colleges are more focused on your high school transcript (which allows them to assess your GPA and course rigor), SAT or ACT scores (if required), and your extracurricular activities.

If you're applying to New York State colleges, your Regents scores may have more importance. However, they're still less significant than the factors mentioned above. They might be viewed as supplementary to your high school academic record. That being said, it's always a good idea to strive for high scores on your Regents exams, as they can still be an indicator of your academic performance and commitment to learning.

In summary, don't worry too much if your Regents scores aren't perfect. Focus on maintaining a strong GPA, taking challenging classes, achieving solid test scores (if required), and engaging in meaningful extracurricular activities. These factors will have a greater impact on your college admissions chances than your Regents exam scores.
