Hi everyone! I received an invitation to join the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). How much does membership cost and is it worth paying to join? Does it actually help with college applications?
Hi there! The membership cost for the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) is typically a one-time fee of around $90. As for whether it's worth it, that's subjective and depends on what you're looking to get out of it.
From a college application standpoint, I'd say it's not a game-changer. Colleges tend to prioritize extracurriculars that demonstrate your interests and dedication to a specific field or activity. NSHSS membership isn't something that stands out or showcases your unique talents or experiences. Nonetheless, it may still offer some benefits, such as access to scholarship opportunities, events, and networking.
Ultimately, it comes down to what you think you'll gain from being a member. If you're looking to bolster your college applications, there are more effective ways to do so, such as engaging in meaningful extracurricular activities, working on personal projects, or gaining work or volunteer experience in a field that interests you. Hope that helps!
