Hi guys! Quick Q: Does BU track or take into account your demonstrated interest (like campus tours, reaching out to admissions, etc.) when they look at your application? Trying to figure out if this is something I should focus on or not. Thanks!
BU does consider demonstrated interest in the admissions process, according to their Common Data Set (page 8):
In fact, BU has been known for allegedly rejecting qualified students they don't think will attend. This is known as Yield Protection or Tufts Syndrome:
Visiting campus, opening emails, attending info sessions, and reaching out to admissions are some of the ways you can demonstrate interest. However, these actions won't have nearly as big an impact as your GPA, course rigor, and talent/ability on your application.
Ultimately, ensure that the core components of your application are strong and reflective of your best self. Best of luck with your application!
