Hey everyone, I'm a bit paranoid here and was wondering if the Common App uses some kind of AI detection for essays? I draft all of my stuff authentically, but I鈥檓 nervous about the stories of AI sniffing out writing styles or something. Is this something legit to worry about?
Hello there! First and foremost, it's great that you鈥檙e committed to authentic writing for your college essays 鈥 that's always the best approach.
To ease your concerns, there is no public evidence to suggest that the Common Application employs AI to analyze essays for authenticity in terms of writing style. The primary goal of your essay should be to convey your own voice and showcase what makes you unique, which it sounds like you鈥檙e already doing. In fact, college admissions officers are quite adept at discerning the student's voice and perspective through their writing.
While it's understandable to be a bit anxious, remember that your essays are your opportunity to speak directly to the admissions committee in your own voice. They want to hear from you, not an AI-generated version of a student. As long as you stay true to your own experiences and writing style, you have nothing to worry about. Just focus on reflecting your true self in your essays, and you'll be on the right track.
If you need any further reassurance or would like someone to review your essays, feel free to reach out to your school's guidance office. Best of luck with your applications!
