Hiya friends! Junior in distress here because testing is not my strong suit. I've been looking into HBCUs and heard some were test-optional due to the pandemic. Question is, are HBCUs continuing the test-optional policy into 2023? Really hoping to find some that are because I feel like my strengths are more in my grades and extracurriculars.
Hello there! It's completely understandable to feel stressed about standardized tests, and it's great to hear you're considering HBCUs! Many colleges, including HBCUs, adopted test-optional policies during the pandemic to accommodate students, and numerous institutions have extended these policies into 2023. While policies can vary from school to school, a good number of HBCUs are indeed continuing with test-optional admissions for the 2023 application cycle.
I highly recommend checking the admissions pages of the specific HBCUs you are interested in, as they will provide the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding their testing policies. Best of luck!
