Quick question鈥攆or the Common App, should I use my school email or create a new, professional one? I want to make sure colleges can always reach me, and I'm not sure if using my school email is the best idea since I'll lose access to it after graduation. What did you guys do?
Hey there! It's definitely a good idea to use an email address that will stay with you after graduation. Creating a new, professional email (like FirstnameLastname@gmail.com) before you start your college apps is a good idea. This way, you make sure you won't miss any important communications from colleges once your high school email gets deactivated.
Make sure that whatever email you choose is one you check regularly that doesn鈥檛 have a quirky or unprofessional username鈥攆irst impressions matter, even in email addresses! Good luck with your applications!
