help

i鈥檓 16, jr year and at a 3.6 UW and a 3.9 W gpa. my dream school is whitman college but they鈥檙e strict on their gpas and acc test scores. psat is this wednesday and i don鈥檛 think i鈥檓 going to do very well, and my scores are no where near where they should be for whitman (they want 1200 and i have 1030 for 10th grade). i鈥檓 very involved outside of school in community service through my scout troop (150+ hours) and on trail work in idaho (200+ conservation hours), im in NHS, i am pr茅sident of my own club and i鈥檓 in french 2. what more can i add to make myself stand out so i can stop worrying about my lack of great grades. should i even bother applying?

It depends on what you want to do because colleges have different subsections, Ex. At Purdue the engineering major requires you to be at the very top of your class, while you may need only a 3.1 to get into Purdue on an art degree. I would say if you really want to get into that school look and see if that school offers internships, schools usually eat that up. Also, don鈥檛 stress, there鈥檚 a college for everyone, apply to some schools that you are above, below, and at the average. Make sure to list everything you can think of to help you with your application. Good luck! - another junior
