Trans-friendly schools
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of colleges that have good reputation in dealing with trans students (especially in terms of things like housing). I'd prefer a liberal arts college in the Northeast, but feel free to recommend a school that doesn't fit that category.
Especially if you are involved in the arts in any way, definitely check out Skidmore. They are very welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community. It is also a very artistic, creative community. It's in Saratoga Springs NY and the area is very pretty. Also, according to their website "Skidmore commits to meeting the full demonstrated need of our admitted students" which translates to no loans. It's probably worth checking out. Another resource, website campuspride.org, gives info on all things college for the LGBTQ community.
Some liberal arts colleges in the Northeast that are trans-friendly are Wellesley, Smith, Byrn Mawr, and Mount Holyoke. Mind you, these four are womens' colleges, but you can apply if you identify as female or nonbinary. Co-ed colleges that are trans-friendly are UPenn, UMass, NYU, Ithaca, Trinity, Tufts, Harvey Mudd, Williams, and there are more, but these are the ones that come to mind.
If you're an identifying female or non-binary, I think you can apply to Barnard College of Columbia, though that's a pretty selective one.
