ADA Accomodations
Hello! I am a rising senior in PA. I wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with OCD and Tourette's accommodations? Ideally, I want to be able to room alone for my mental health. Unfortunately, that is idealistic and even the prospect of that is rather expensive. Has anyone had discussions about this with their advisor or any experience/expertise in this area? It sounds silly to propose this in an academic setting tbh.
I have not asked for medical accommodations myself, but I knew people at Georgetown University who received singles because of their mental health. I'm certain that every university will offer similar accommodations because of the ADA, though single rooms are limited. I think that so long as you ask for a single as early as possible, get medical documentation, and are prepared to pay extra for your room, you will be fine. At the very least, the people who work in housing will not find your request silly and will do their best to help you. Hope this helps!
