Reach Schools
Hi, I'm currently trying to narrow down my reach schools to 2 or 3. The schools I'm currently looking at are (in no particular order):
1. Carnegie Mellon University
2. Emerson College
3. Northeastern University
4. Wesleyan University
5. Smith College
I'm interested in Carnegie and Emerson because of the music/fine arts opportunities, Northeastern because of the combined majors, Wesleyan because it's nearby (I'm also doing their High School Scholars program this year, so that might help), and Smith because I'm interested in apply to at least one women's college. I've also looked at Barnard, Bryn Mawr, and Mount Holyoke, so any women's college would be good. For that reason, I won't be putting Smith on the poll (also because there's only four spots, lol), but please comment/answer if you have an advice or recommendations :)
I'm still not sure what I want to major in but my strongest skills and interests involve debating/argument, writing, reading, and music.
So CMU is internationally renowned for thier Computer Science and overall the Math department. I鈥檓 not a humanities person so can鈥檛 attest to that but CMU I know it becuase of it鈥檚 maths stuff not any humanities but it鈥檚 something I want to mention.
Emerson is a top tier LAC beyond that I can鈥檛 say anything but again a personal visit is always great.
Northeastern is a great school but it鈥檚 almost like a budget Harvard. That may be good or bad depending on your views. But also remover what Boston. Its very professional oriented which I appreciate but it鈥檚 not for everyone.
Wesylyln I know little about but a pre college program isn鈥檛 usally a noticeable boost.
As a guy I have no clue about female only schools sorry.
Of all of the schools here Id say my clear top 2 for hummaties is Emerson which I haven鈥檛 heard a negative thing about and is well known for its humaties. NE is a great all rounder if maybe slightly more well known for its STEM but it has a robust humaties department.
Also you may not know what to major in but do you have a career planned out? I knew what I wanted to do as a job but didn鈥檛 know a major. Don鈥檛 it in reverse may help you.
