Do I have to use the email I used for FAFSA when applying to college?
Answered

I used my school email to apply to colleges, and I used my personal email to apply for FAFSA. I don鈥檛 know if this will cause a problem, but the colleges I applied to sent me emails telling me to apply for FAFSA even though I did already. What should I do?

It shouldn't matter. You just need to make sure that the colleges you applied to are on your FAFSA college list. There's a place to input your colleges, and all your FAFSA info will be automatically sent to the colleges.

The emails you are getting are most likely automated, and they just haven't gotten your info yet.

Hello! I would suggest using your personal email. When you graduate your school email will be deleted by the district. That would leave you up the creek if something important or major happens. Also, if your school imposes any restrictions then not all of your emails will come through. You could miss deadlines and opportunities. You tell the admissions that you made a mistake with your email and have them change it to your personal one. They should be able to do this. I hope this helps!

Good luck!

As others have said, the emails you are receiving from colleges are automated. The email addresses you use for FAFSA and college applications do not need to be the same. You can double check that all of the schools you are applying to have received your FAFSA by looking at the Student Aid Report (SAR) in your portal. Hope this helps!
